"Discovering new sensations over a shorter distance"

Mustapha ARNAOUT (D168-LIB)

Who could have imagined seeing a landscape architect such as Mustapha ARNAOUT at the heart of a desert? Indeed, why would this Lebanese citizen - who shares his life between Monte Carlo and Casablanca - be attracted by such dry regions where his art cannot be expressed? Maybe the answer lies in Morocco, this land "to which I owe everything", as he puts it.

Mustapha is one of the three competitors of this first edition of the HALF MARATHON DES SABLES FUERTEVENTURA to have won the most medals in the MDS MAROC! So far, he has participated 18 times in this mythical event, and he has also taken part in numerous other desert races (Mali, Jordan, etc.). This means he's as used to sandy terrains as he is to green spaces!

Now, at the age of almost 60, Mustapha is training two hours a day, 6 days a week. For the past 30 years, he has been running, cardio training at the gym and relaxing with gymnastic exercises. "I carefully listen to my body," he told us, "as I want to continue practising sports forever." Despite his daily sports schedule, he doesn't really care about performance: "it's just a hobby".

The MARATHON DES SABLES MAROC remains the toughest sports event he's ever taken part in. His last one dates back to 2014, and when he was informed that a HALF MDS was being launched, he couldn't resist the desire to live again this desert immersion, "this challenge with yourself, the friendly atmosphere amongst competitors..." His motivations for this HALF MDS: "discovering new sensations over a shorter distance."

A clear demonstration that the HALF MARATHON DES SABLES can also attract "veterans" of the race and green nature lovers!
